Introducing Bolivia

Bolivia is home to some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world that are just being discovered by modern science, and its culture is just as vibrant as its jungles and plains.

When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Bolivia is during their winter months (June - August), when you may experience colder weather in the higher elevations and deserts, but the clearer skies will be less likely to interrupt your travel plans.

Where to go in Bolivia?
Home to the largest percentage of indigenous people in South America, Bolivia is known for its constant parades and celebrations. Check out the ancient ruins of Pumapunku, the world’s largest salt flat at Salar de Uyuni, and the verdant La Paz valleys.

How many days do I need?
Many travelers might feel like one week in Bolivia is too little, but it has been done. Two weeks and up is a normal amount of time to spend in this incredible country.

From the Amazon jungle to soaring Andean peaks, Bolivia spans a vast range of elevation and a variety of microclimates and landscapes. Generally speaking, altitude and topography determine variations in local climates, but nationwide a clear-cut distinction between the "winter" dry season and "summer" wet season makes any decision on when to visit fairly simple. Winter brings sapphire skies and cooler temperatures, while in summer, wildflowers bloom, yet fog, clouds, and flooding are common.

We spent 3 days exploring the salt flats and desert with them before returning to La Paz. I would 10/10 recommend Camila, KimKim, and all of the guides on this tour. It was executed to perfection and I can’t wait to do another country with KimKim!!

I cannot say enough about the amazing experience I had with Camila! We shared with her all of our ideas for our trip via the messaging app on kimkim and she made the entire planning process a breeze. She was quick to reply and executed all of our ideas perfectly! From the moment we arrived in Bolivia, all of our tour guides and drivers were prompt and genuinely amazing human beings to work with! We are so thankful for the amazing knowledge our guide, Al, provided throughout our time in the salt flats and Potosí! Our drivers Gonzalo and Omar were also amazing to work with and our tour guide for Tiwanaku and la Paz, Carlos, was so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He made sure we got the most authentic Bolivian experience, which we greatly appreciated. I highly recommend doing the private tours as we got to make some additional stops at local cafes and markets that were so amazing to experience. I loved all of the food! I highly recommend staying at hotel Luna salada on your trip in the salt flats, as well as Stannum in la Paz! Bolivia is amazing and I am so grateful for the people, culture and amazing sites I was able to see thanks to Camila and the kimkim team!

By far my favorite part of the trip, although it was all so amazing and so hard to choose! Our guide and driver prepared a picnic on the salt flats for us with authentic Bolivian food which was such a treat and so cute! We also loved hiking up Incahuasi island! Al was so knowledgeable and such a joy to have guiding our 3 day tour! We also loved the star gazing at night and Al knew all the most amazing photos tricks! We captured some amazing shots our friends couldn’t even believe were real!

From the start I was impressed with Camila. She responded quickly and thoroughly resolved any concerns or questions I had. She put together a custom itinerary, matching exactly what I wanted to see and do. She went out of her way to make sure that this trip not only met my expectations, but exceeded them. Everything I wanted to do while I were there, no matter how big or small she made sure I got to do it. The only con that I have is to have a copy of the itinerary and invitation letter in Spanish and English as nobody in immigration spoke English and the walk from the hotel in Samay Wasi hotel to the bus terminal is not five minutes (actually about 20 minutes). We had to take a taxi. I would have no reservations recommending Camila and the Kim Kim team to others. I am beyond thankful to her and her team and would wholeheartedly recommend her to everyone. Special mention to Alvaro Oropeza in Uyuni. He and the driver were awesome!!! Book your trip of a lifetime with this wonderful team. I learnt a new word Un-Boliviable :)
