Luigi Pasiani

I am an entrepreneur with a huge passion for travelling, which was devoted to my holidays for the most part of my life. I experienced the very aspects of being a traveller, and I felt tourism needed a change of approach. Ethical tourism and responsible tourism mean thinking about the consequences of our actions as a company in the tourism business on the environment, local people and local economy.
Some places in the world really benefit from tourism, and for some communities, the tourist trade is the primary source of income and jobs.
Ethical tourism is becoming more important in the tourism industry, with campaigns to raise awareness of the benefits of responsible holiday making and treating the area of the visit with respect.
At The White Rose Guild, ethical tourism means the affirmative answer to the question. “Is that legal?” it’s not enough for us; the right question is: “ Is that ethical?”
We care about the consequences of our business so much that we are cautious about the messages our tour leaders will pass down; We wish that our guests might get home with memories of authentic and genuine Scottish culture.
We strongly believe in low-impact tourism and supporting local communities.
Please check this video to get an idea of what we do:

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"Our specialisation is Scotland mainland and Isles.
We engage our guests with history, culture and traditions to inform them while enjoying Scotland.
Our skilled historians, storyteller and archaeologists guarantee a very high level of engagement while entertaining.
We offer the exclusive opportunity to have hands-on history and relics
Unconventional visiting path not mainstream
Very high-level attention to details: routes, accommodations, and landscapes will have a matched “fil rouge.”
Access to activities which are exclusive of The White Rose Guild
"

How did you get involved in travel?

"I have been a strategy consultant for multinational companies for over twenty years. At 50 yo I decided I wanted to change my life and Do something I really love. That's how The White Rose Guild was born. I thought it'd be possible to create a business to help preserve Scotland’s history and promote talented craftspeople. The idea of offering small tours, off the beaten track, opportunities to experience a variety of crafts, and feel a real connection to Scotland, away from the crowds and typical tourist attractions, would be the future."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I travelled to Scotland for many years searching for the reason for the strong call I felt about what I call MotherLand. Then, one day I was near Stirling, and I heard about a Bannockburn re-enactment, and I thought. "I am in".
I attended the re-enactment and chatted with representatives of the Clan Macpherson. I mentioned my family links to the name, and they invited me to become a clan member. I was thoroughly excited to be accepted as a clan member and to strengthen my connections to the clan.
I have always been interested in Scottish craft, and I have met many craftsmen and women throughout Scotland, and they have told me some fantastic stories on my visits. I have now built up a network of these people, and I regard them as living history and living culture that is so engaging to experience. The idea behind the White Rose Guild was to give these people a platform and offer travellers the opportunity to enjoy and relive my experiences."

There is so much good to write about that made our trip to Scotland a really fun adventure. We appreciated so much the easy to navigate planning process that allowed so much personalization of what we wanted to see and experience.
Our suggestions would be to include some sort of up front notice of the distance to travel from chosen hotels to the town/city or destination being visited. What we were unaware of was how far some of our expeditions were from our hotels. We ended up needing to miss two such days since there was so much travel involved. We would have made different choices on those days to save travel time.
We had a personal driver/guide for two days. It was well worth the extra cost involved to sit back and enjoy as well as spend this time with a local resident and get to know the area from his perspective.
Aside from one meal at a hotel, the food was all top notch. Scotland should take pride in their quality of food and how it's prepared and presented.
We will look to Kim Kim planning again when we are planning our next vacation adventure.

A great location within Edinburgh to use as a place to eat, rest up. The overall décor was quite exotic. The hotel was very clean and well staffed. The restaurant was quite good and the breakfast service is a nice feature.

a hard to find location, but so worth the travel. A beautiful building set on an island. Amazingly quiet and restful. We did not stay in the main building, but one of the remote cabins. I would rate this as the most unique part of our trip. The staff were so helpful and made us feel welcome.

A total surprise being located near the airport. We could walk from our hotel to the tram that connects to Edinburgh. This allowed us an extra day to get back to the city for additional exploration.

The train was comfortable. The ride was a bit simplistic. It was difficult to fill in two hours in the town of Mallig.

We were very pleased with all the aspects of our trip. I think it’s important to realize the smaller hotels have lots of history and sometime interesting room set ups, but everything works and the breakfast included feature is a real plus as the Scots put on a feast that sets you up for the day. We did not use a guide, but we hired local taxi drivers on three occasions that took us around Lewis, Harris, Skye,, and From Fort William back to Edinburg. Each had lots to tell us and teach us about the places we were. It was nice some days to go slow and stay on our own timeframe, hike, eat light and explore the local town.
The Edinburg B&B had a broken elevator and a story they were waiting for a part but I think that’s a long way out, but we found young men to haul our bags. Broadway House on Lewis is a gem, food , view, accommodations, proprietors. HEB360 local guide A+. RAASAY Distillery and the island itself a highlight. We got a taxi driver from Portree to go over on the ferry with his car and drive us all around the island before checking in…totally a must to do. The Distillery, like so many places, is waiting for more waitstaff to appear for the summer after college gets out. They are a small distillery working on how they want to grow, and share dining days with the inn next door.Lovely hikes there and an amazing view back at Skye. Garrison Hotel in Fort William is also a gem, Small rooms but we had every single thing thought out to be comfortable and charming staff. NEVIS Taxi a real find too, who took us to Edinburg. Hotel Du Vin a bit gloomy lobby and room but spacious and food , staff wonderful and a great location. A last stop before the airport. Security and check in for Edinburg airport , under a lot of construction can take more time than you think so give yourself a bit extra. Luigi from KIM KIM made it all . The plus is having everything paid for, the ability to edit a trip with your own preferences with someone who knows the area. A MUST is to book restaurants AHEAD of time. Everyone is short staffed and Skye in particular was difficult so were were glad we booked ahead as many other tourists ate from the grocery store shelves! We took ferries and taxis and planes.
The hospitality and the humor of the Scots is just wonderful.

B+B Edinburgh
Edinburgh

Comfortable Beds, Charming Library on second floor. A busy place. Elevator broken so ask for help. Breakfast generous. A good practical stopping place. Our room was on lower level. Could use better reading lights.

Authenticity & Character
A basic old world hotel. Fix elevator, better lighting in Bar and Bedroom
Location
Near more restaurants
Staff
Friendly, it was a busy place
Cleanliness & Comfort
Lighting, water a bit hotter
Broad Bay House
Back

The view is spectacular, the decor is comfortable bright, the rooms are delightful, the proprietors cook, serve check in to see how you are, converse with care and animation. It is right on the sea, sheep on the lawn, a beach to walk on. By far one of the best places to “be”.

Authenticity & Character
It was designed to be a Band B so outfitted in a modern yet seaside way,
Location
The sea, the view, the light
Staff
Great care, conversations, quiet, and food
Cleanliness & Comfort
Spotless, very comfortable, private
Harris Hotel
Tarbert

Old English is hotel with friendly staff, a basic dining room and a pizza (excellent)pub attached right near the ferry which is a plus, A small quiet town with a few cute shops, Harris Tweed, a craft show. Located in Tarbert before glorious beaches on Harris its a wonderful old fashioned place owned by a brother and sister intent on keeping the best of the old and adding on to it.

Authenticity & Character
Great old pub in premises, small but charming and loaded with different whiskey distillers
Location
A great spot at the bottom of Harris.
Staff
Friendly helpful fun to talk to
Cleanliness & Comfort
Very clean, spacious rooms and great tub
The Royal Hotel Portree
Portree

This is a basic hotel but with spacious rooms and a good location. Good solid breakfast. Handles a lot of vacationers. On the Main Street and the room was at street level but the town goes silent early. Reservations are a must and there are a number of good restaurants. If you want more charm there are places within a short walk on the harbor but if you want to be central and walk the town for a short stay this served us very well. A local advised us not to enter the pub attached so we did not.

Authenticity & Character
Really just freshen lighting and decor a bit but my sense is this is a high traffic hotel. An old town inn.
Location
Central to town shops and the nearby trails
Staff
Friendly locals
Cleanliness & Comfort
Very clean, a bit tired looking but truly clean
The Garrison
Fort William

Such a fun place to stay. Clever small rooms efficiently done, colorful functional. Check in was in the bar with very happy and fun staff. At the end of a pedestrian street, quiet. After some of the more interesting and rustic places we stayed this was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was delicious, fresh juice, cooked to order,

Authenticity & Character
Apparently a retrofitted prison so attractively done
Location
Center of Fort William and restaurants
Staff
Young, fun, professional. Ran the bar, cooked breakfast, cheerful.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Up to date bathroom fittings, hairs dryers, very clean, good reading lights. Small but functional
Hotel du Vin & Bistro Edinburgh
Edinburgh

Big old building near the modern Scottish Museum and University of Edinburgh. We were given a large room that had an old long tub to relax in, a sitting area and large bed. Very comfortable and nice to spread out in after two weeks on the road. The lobby and terrace area are a bit shabby but the lounge was comfortable as was the room. The lighting was a bit dark. The restuarant was wonderful and very interesting space. Staff bent over backwards.

Authenticity & Character
True old gracious place, even if entrance a bit gloomy
Location
Nothing and a bit away from the Royal Mile but walkable
Staff
Very considerate and interested in helping
Cleanliness & Comfort
No, just a good standard
